Good welcome gifts for baby and new mom.

My step daughter is due in June. My husband and I didn't have a chance to go to her baby shower, so I planned on getting her some things after the baby is born as welcome gifts. She's going to be a new mom, and a pretty young mom. My last baby was 8 years ago so I can't think of all the things she might be needing. What are some things you needed the most when baby was born, or some things you would have liked someone to bring you in the hospital?

Diapers, diapers, diapers! I got TONS of diapers at my shower, and I didn't end up buying ant myself until my daughter was 5 1/2 months old. I also got alot of burp cloths, which were a godsend when you only have time and/or ambition to do laundry maybe once or twice a week. Blankets are nice as well, especially when they're newborns and spit up on everything. Possibly bibs too, so their clothes stay clean for more than 5 minutes. Since she will be a summer baby, some bonnets might be nice too. I'm sure she'll appreciate anything you get her!

If she is planning to breastfeed; lanolin, breastpads, a book like So That's What They're For, a boppy pillow.

Maybe a cute outfit for the baby and some pampering stuff for the mama =)

I was given lots of clothes balloons flowers and cupcakes lol. I don't suggest the cupcakes she won't be realy be up to eating afterwards. I suggest diapers, desitine, burp cloths, bibs, mitins, hats, onesies, and binkies. Those are all good gifts for mom and baby

My mom always got me meals. It was a God send. Hubs wanted to help, and I had a hard time getting around, so the meals helped. Especially when DH's thoughtless friends stopped by right at dinner time. (Sorry, small vent there)
