on 9/1/09 at 8:18amHi Stephanie...it's nice to meet you. First of all, congratulations on your new little bundle of joy, life will never be the same...it just gets better. :o)
My name is Cathy. I am new to this group, but not new to the Coast Guard. Hubby and I have been married for 21 yrs and he's been in the CG for 26 (and counting). We met when he was stationed in AL, married and moved to FL, back to AL, to NC(loved it there) and now back to AL...we keep coming "home"..lol
We have 2 boys. The youngest is a senior in highschool this year and our oldest will be graduating from Cape May this Friday (Sept. 4). I can't tell you how proud I am, to have both a husband and a son in the Coast Guard. And the cool thing is, I didnt know hubby when he went thru bootcamp, so I am getting to see a bit of what that was like for him.
I think this was a great idea for a post and look forward to getting to know some of the other ladies thru their replies. Have a wonderful day... Cathy

on 9/1/09 at 9:50amMy name is Julie and my hubbies been in the CG for 12 years. We've been married 10 years now. We have 1 daughter who is 5 and just had our 2nd miscarriage. So sad but really thankful for good medical care with the Coast Guard. We are currently stationed in Alameda, CA. Hubbie is a CG JAG attorney. We have been stationed in Kodiak, A:, Alameda, CA; Washington D.C. (CG headquarters); San Francisco (for hubby to go to Law School on the CG); and now Alameda, CA again in his first Law tour. I love the CG, we have been really happy with my husbands career. Sacrifices have been made but we have found them worth it. It can be difficult to move around but it gets easier with children (I think) because as they get older you are more focused on getting them involved and so you end up getting involved and meeting people because you are getting your children involved. As you can see we've moved several times and I have found as far as making new friends go the best way to" make" a friend is to be a friend.
Good luck to you and your new little family!
Take care,
Julie

on 9/2/09 at 11:01amYeah I've noticed there's hardly anyone ever on this board ;0( . Anyhow, I'm Dusti, I'm 30 ( about to be 31 next month), have 3 beautiful babies. Two girl ( ages 4 and 6) and one little boy ( whom just turned 1 yrs old today). I'm orginally from Savannah Ga. Was an Army wife for 11 years, got divorced and met my husband Phillip ( my coastie) about almost a year after my divorce.Phillip and I just got married this past may 1st. We had our son Aiden, a year ago today actually. We are stationed here in Baltimore ( Curtis bay) Maryland. Got here from Savannah Ga back in July of this year. Do I like it up here? It's okay. I have my days where my opinion differs. Do I miss my home in Savannah Ga? "HELL YES". Anyhow, it's not like I'm not new to this whole military life and moving constantly.
I'm the kinda person that will tell it like I see it, I don't live my life based on what others think of me or think I should be, never have. I don't give my opinions often unless I'm asked. I'm easy to make friends with, however am not a push over and out spoken. I do just about anything I possibley can to help out my friends and family, however, I'm quick to notice when I'm being taken advantage of as well. It don't say WELCOME on my back...LOL and I'm quick to let them know that.
I'm pretty much a good person. I'm a full blown IRISH NUT. I'm of strong IRISH Decent so just about anything I have an interest in deals with IRISH or Ireland things.
So now if I haven't scared anyone off after reading this, I look forward to chatting with you guys and HOPE this board "WAKES UP" a bit. LOL!!!! ;0)

on 9/2/09 at 9:51pmHello Ladies! Im glad that this group is picking up a little bit!
My name is Adrienne, I am 28 and a stay at home mom/full time student. My husband has been in the Coast Guard about 8 years and we have been married for almost 3. We have a two year old son, Dylan and one on the way due March 28th. We are currently living in Connecticut, Stationed at Sector Long Island Sound, New Haven CT. My husband is an OS so we are semi limited to where we can go. I do like CT but I am looking forward to our move next summer! There are a lot of things to do in CT and you can find places to live that are really nice for a reasonable amount of money. I just feel that right now we are too close to our family yet still too far if that makes sense? We are two hours away from Long Island NY where all of our family live so I spend a LOT of time traveling and that means my son spends a lot of time away from Daddy which hasn't worked out well thus far. Plus it doesnt help to always be gone, I mean how do you make new friends if your always away lol. I am very new to the whole military life/moving/leaving family etc etc so it is nice to hear from other Coastie wives!! Anyway nice to meet all of you and I hope that this group picks up and we can all reach out to each other because I know this isn't the easiest life to have at times =)

on 9/3/09 at 12:57amHi Group!
My husband has been in the CG for 5 years and just re-inlisted for 4 more. We just transfered to Morro Bay, CA (surf station) and have been in Seattle, WA (USCGC Healy) and Kodiak, AK (USCGC Storis). We have a wild and crazy toddler Lili who keeps me on my feet and a baby on the way, expecting March 24, 2010. We also have a cuddly cat and a crazy puppy. I am currently a SAHM and babysit to earn some extra cash.
Well, I guess that is it for now. Oh yeah, I have a horriable cold and it sucks. Blah!

on 9/10/09 at 5:22pmHello everyone! My name is Maria I am 25 years old, my husband has been in the CG for 4 years and currently stationed on the USCGC Tampa in Portsmouth, VA but we reside in VA Beach. This is our first year at a new station since his commission last May. I just became a SAHM to our 5 mth old son Leonardo "leo", and so far I love it :) Though I do miss working sometimes, but I am just breaking in the military life! I am definitely looking to meet new friends as well, as it's kind of hard talking to a baby 24/7 when the hubby is underway lol.
