SAHM Battle - i just dont get it!

This is not meant to be the average SAHM bitching debate. I have a serious question for them:

How can you call your RESPONSIBILITIES your "JOB"?

I work 40 hours a week.
PLUS: take care of my 2 kids, DH, & a dog
PLUS: clean my house
PLUS: wash & put away laundry
PLUS: manage bills
PLUS: cook meals
PLUS: spend QT time with my family.

I take care of all of my responsibilities and my career in 1/2 of the time you do.

How can you call taking care of your responsibilities (kids, house, chores, pets, etc) a job when you would have them even if you did work?

Trust me -- being a working mom is not a break or easier than anything you have 18 hours a day to accomplish.

No, I'm not bitter that I work & take care of my family. But, I do not think you should get any special recognition for doing what I do in 5 hours a night vs your 16 hours/day.

Taking care of my family is my job because it is what I do. Don't like it? That's on you. I don't care. I enjoy being able to stay at home with my children and watch them grow.

Its really not. I'm just curious about why it is that what most moms (sahm & working) refer to as responsibilities other moms refer to as a job.

My "responsibilities" are a job as I actually get paid every thursday for the cooking,cleaning, and laundry. Thats right! I negotiated a rate of pay when we started discussing my staying at home. :) Call it whatever you want.. responsibilities , a job .. I call it my happy life :)

For me I did consider it a break when I worked simply because I got adult interactions...lol...that's it for me

Troll much? Everyone knows that moms do far more in the home than working mothers. More cleaning, way more childcare, almost always more cooking and laundry. Either you're trying to stir up trouble or you're ignorant enough to really believe what you're saying. Either way you don't have anything to add to the debate.

I only call it a "job" when I say "I love my job!" Otherwise, I consider it a privilege.

Ur not doing the at home thing 24/7. Ur kids are not there 24/7 which means They are not there to tear apart the house 24/7. They are not having lunch there which means no clean up. Do u get to go the bathroom by yourself at work? Do you get to eat an actual lunch? You probably get a break too! I do both since I work very part time outside of the home. Both are challenging in their own way.
