I didn't mean to do it...I swatted a strangers kid! EDIT!!!

So today I was at walmart getting some things for dinner and as I came out of the store and was walking to my car I heard a mother yelling at her little boy right behind me.She was telling him to quit running and to wait on her the little boy who had to be around 6 or 7 ran straight in my direction and as he ran into the parking lot a large suv came about 2 inches from hitting him tires squealing and smoke bellowing. If the driver hadn't been paying attention there is no doubt in my mind he would have killed that little boy. The little boy was still running and laughing and the mother was terrified. When the little boy came into reaching distance of me I grabbed him by his arm and smacked him on his behind, I didn't mean to react that way to a strangers kid but I freaked. It is what I would have done if my kids had been that wreckless. I held the little boy until his mom reached where we were standing she looked at me grabbed her kid who was looking at me horrified. I apologized to her over and over agian. She sweetly smiled at me then looked at her son and said "thanks honey, if he thinks what you gave him was bad wait until his daddy finds out what he did" She wasnt mad! She told me it was just my protective mothering instincts that made me react that way that she would have probably done the same thing.

Please add that the suv wasn't the only vehicle in the parking lot. We live in a small town and it was Saturday. The lot was packed. After the suv missed him the little boy was still running and dodging traffic. I can't guarantee that every one of those drivers were paying attention. I didn't beat the kid! I swatted his tushie once! Over bluejeans! There is no way I even hurt him. I wouldn't be suprised if I shocked him though.

I don't care what my kid was doing....if a stranger ever spanked my child I would knock her teeth right out of her head! You let ME discipline my child!

You're lucky it wasn't my kid you spanked. You wouldn't be on here typing this shit... because the bones of your hand would be shattered. You don't hit another person child. Period.

I would have been REALLY upset if it were my child and you put your hands on them...regardless of the situation. You're lucky she wasn't!

I would have knocked you out for preventing my child's death. How dare you!! I can just imagine the news stories now: Woman gets the shit beat out of her after stopping a child from getting hit by a SUV.

OP, although I do understand why you reacted that way, that wasn't your place. If you didn't push out my 7 pound 10 ounce son, you better not hit him, period!
