I have an appt next Friday to talk about getting the paraguard IUD. Anyone else have one?

I've really wanted to get one for the last year or so, but I've been too scared after the horror stories I've heard and read about IUDs. Everything from terrible cramping, to being able to feel the strings, super long periods that won't stop, it getting lost in there, to it gettting implanted in the side of the uterus and needing surgery. AHH!

I have the Mirena and Im switching to Paragaurd due to it being nonhormonal. I will let you know. Right now the IUD have kind of stinks I get cramps all the time and do have super long periods but I have learned that maybe the IUD itself so but I am super bad with any other BC so I can deal with it

I have the mirena. I love it. No problems here & no periods!

I have the Paragard. I love it. It's so much better than the Mirena, imo. I had a bad experience with Mirena.

My cramping is not any worse than what it was before. My periods are a normal length with normal flow. The only issue I've had is that now I spot for a couple days before my period starts. That's not a huge deal to me though...

I had a paragard and tried SO hard to like it and get past the bad but after 10months I had it removed. I felt it 24/7, sex still isn't the same. Cramps were horrid and cramps made me vomit they were so bad. I have nothing good to say. I tried to like it :(

That's terrible! I've heard so many bad things and then lots of good things too!

That's for the input everyone! I think I'm going to go for it and hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones that has no problems and loves it!

I'm chosing if over mirena because there's no hormones in it and I think that will do me a world of good.
